[Shop Talk]- Russian Makes- Poljot24.de

Post by Ed.YEO » 04 Mar 2012 16:20

I don't know any brudders here have ever encountered this site before...
Well... at least to me, another new site for me to take reference on the specs.
Looking at the price... seems to be competitive than some other online retailers.

Prices are decent apparently. One of the 2 more reputable European sites that sells 'Russian'. Never bought from but heard mostly good things from watchuseek forum. Not sure how many authentic Russians left now tho. Anyone know this?

I don't know what makes an "authentic" russian watch, but I find the old school amphibia screw-down crown ("loose" stem, pull to engage) and caseback system singularly russian diver.

At least in my limited knowledge, the only current diver that utilises this sort of caseback waterproofing system is.... The rolex DSSD?

Comparing the price to another german site... http://www.vostok-watches.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it seems that poljot24 prices are much more competitive.

I wonder what kind of price is going on in ATC- Asia Timepiece Center at parklane mall... Especially when the local bigger seller of Russian watch, Red Army priced their watches rocket high...

There's a few online stores. Of course you can't compare with our local RAW as they are selling at retail prices probably 40% or more margin.

There's a few Russian sites too, I can dig my old posts in WUS.

Some of the bigger brands impose some form of controls, so you can't buy volmax watches from Russia2all, a US site, cheaper than RAW too.

yeah... i know about Russia2all... the same also goes to junkers.de wor...
this make me think not really the manufacturer control ba... i guess maybe this control call is initiated by RAW to monopolise the local and malaysian market...

Well, if you give me the rights to sell in SG or MY, then my potential customers goes to the shop and molest gao gao, then buy it online, where's the business ;)

Of course every business have the same problem, but impact on RAW is probably more than the rest, since they are in a niche market with low volume business.

I won't be surprised if 1 day Gnomon watches were to do that to Steinhart or their other product vendors. I get the right to distribute, I also want to ensure I get the sales.

Anyway, this is how I see it from another angle, although Volmax don't allow R2A to ship to Singapore, you can always order from the other sites

In every business, you want exclusiveness.

Thing about exclusive is that if its marked up too high like RAW now, biz will be slow but I guess they have their own crowd.

R2A is great but you are right, unfortunately cannot ship the main brands from Volmax. Only brand allowed is Dennissov (if I remember correctly when dealt with them- They have great service imho). Friend visiting from US and that helped me save a lot plus RAW bo stock.

Actually, don't you think if service was good, you would be willing to support a local shop/store? if paying 10-15% more? I do consider that because at least can get it "straight away" (after touch gao gao) plus anything wrong can get service locally instead of having to ship back etc... just my 2 cents...

Meranom, heard different things about them so not sure whether to try or not. But Zenitar is good IMHO. Only thing is who services Russians here?

I'm planning to get myself a piece or 2 RUSSIAN Chronos to add to my collection. And had been browsing both catalogues from poljot24 and m-watches respectively. It seems to me that poljot24 have more brand choices available. But M-Watches wins with competitive pricing and availability of paypal transaction for payment. I wonder Poljot24 have the latter option as well.

Of course, before commencing to make my purchase, i've got to do some homework on RUSSIAN collection. Most importantly after sales maintainance.
I've been looking at some threads regarding RUSSIAN watch collecting in SG and where to find repair service should anything had happened.

The last info i've seen was mentioned in a thread in WUS, that @ Thomson Plaza, there's an experienced watch maker knows every problem with RUSSIAN movement. I wonder how many RUSSIAN watch brudders here had visit him before?

Now i'm drawn to these 2 piece...
