How many of you do your own watch mods ?

Post by d12go4 » 11 May 2013 10:21

Hi Guys

I'm curious to know how many of you guys do your own watch mods, what types of Mods you do, and the equipment you use

For me, all that I can currently do is :

1) Change Bracelets and Straps (can't resize bracelets yet though  )
2) Open Casebacks and swop movements between similarly sized watches. e.g. I moved a 6309 Movement across to a 7549 case

Tools I have :

CaseBack Opener

SpringBar Tool

Next, what I'd really like to be able to do, is to change the Hands and Chapter Ring in Seikos. But these Mods are more complex and need additional equipment like Hand Lifters and Crystal Press

Cheers

Hehe.. Change straps plus resize? :P

But on a serious note.. Though ive got the basic tool set, the max ive did was only to open caseback, remove the movement and put it back..

I wld like to practise disassemble then ressamble one of these days.

I've done most of my own mods.
It's really not that hard to replace dial and hands. Here is a tutorial I used when I started experimenting:

Coke is outside the frame. Soak my movement inside that concoction to clean it up.

Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't
own it, but you can use it. You can't keep
it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it
you can never get it back.
