GS vs ROLEX

Post by leonmike » 29 Jul 2014 11:28

I do not understand why are Rollies owners so bias against the GS when it comes to comparing
both? Like an article I read in their forum, this guy said that he is getting sick of Rolex watches
and asked what is the next brand to get. I recommend GS, his immediate reply is NO. NO SEIKO !!!

Is it becoz of brand status or what? Anybody care to share their experience on this issue?

I don't think it's just Rollies owners. Haha

Let's face it... GS quality does not stand out in their marketing photos or any photos (anyone who has handled a GS will 90% of the time say "wow... Looks so different in photos")

Secondly. It hasn't been too long since Seiko started marketing and promotion GS internationally.

Yes it's brand status. Rolex has successfully positioned themselves over the many years through their consistent product quality and marketing. Kudos to them.
It will take some time for the general public to accept GS for what it is and not just any other Seiko.

If you had to drop 7-8k on a watch...
Which watch would be first on your list?
Who here would consider a GS first?

Poll anyone?

I think if SEIKO could put the word "CHRONOMETER" onto the faces of their GS maybe it would help to market the range better.
But I did read in a past article somewhere that the Japanese are not permitted to do that. Am I correct?

ROLEC logo is a ONG-BOH(皇帽), GS is a SAI(狮). If Bu-Song(武松) can park hor(打虎), wouldn't those can afford want to be a ONG(王), can tame lion... ImageImageImage

Seriously back to the topic... it's the marketing and advertising the tells the folks about achieving status thingy la...

people don't like Seiko and people don't like Rolex. Seiko need to put KOSC can liao, confirm chop sign Kiasuporeans will queue and buy.

In Singapore, got long long queue, confirm must be good brand, good watch. No other reason one! Although you hear people KPKB that cannot get, they like it secretly that cannot get it. So don't believe all the hype that its not good.

And now back to the real reason, Different strokes for different folks lor. You like GS good for you. You like Rolex, also good for you. You like any brand good for you. That's my motto. You don't like any brand, also good for you. Enough said, buy what YOU like not what others say - this applies to everything in life. :D

To each his own.
Why so bother about pple saying yes or no. This question has popped up so many times and very sure there is never going to be yes or no kind of definite answer.

you like can liao what.
Regardless u drive ferrari or taxi or simi car, rich or no rich. Style or no style.

You like can liao.
If care so much abt what other think about, then i suggest take a new look into life again.
