What is the average number of watches one should own?

Post by trex » 12 Jan 2015 20:04

Just wondering what is the average number of watches one should own.
After my interest in watches was sparked 1 month ago, i found myself buying & buying watches.
in the last 3 weeks, i have bought 3 watches 1) SKX007j, 2)Skx009k 3) SRP307J.
Is this a bit too obsessive? or perhaps its the norm around here..

what are your thoughts?

All of the watches you own should be in your rotation, whether it's once a week or just for one BBQ evening etc

If a watch doesn't get worn and don't have sentimental value, I would say flip it, try something else.
If it's cheap and not worth your time to flip it, give it away. Get someone else hooked into watches. Heheh

The best answer for this, start slowly. You wouldn't want to rush to fill up your collection or that new 12 slotter watch box, ending up flipping or unworn, yet can't flip pieces.

There's no average number, conservatively, it will be usually, 1 sports/utility/beater, 1 office and 1 dress for formal or, 1 auto, 1 quartz. or 1 black dial, 1 white dial etc etc

You make up your own collection and theme ;)

Soon you will have 3 of a kind, royal flush and 13 "ones'
Not as active.

The correct answer is N+1.

You always need 1 more in your collection ( N number of watches) , no matter how many you have !!!
