Which one is nicer??

Post by balzebub71 » 28 Nov 2014 11:30

Thinking of getting either one of these..

SARB033
Image
38mm and 6R15 with date, around 280USD now
Or
SARY057
Image
41mm and 4R36 with day-date, around 250USD now

Both are similar in style, size wise I prefer the SARY057, but not sure if the finishing, dial and bracelet end links are as good as the SARB? Plus the price is close to the SARB which has the 6R vs the 4R?

prefer the SARB.

For some reasons, the new models, the 'Seiko' logo is quite big.

the overall proportion of the SARB is nicely executed.

The brushed finishing on the lug is more refined than 057.

just my humble opinion

both look so similar and are something I would like to own too.
Kinda leaning towards the SARB.

Okay so the SARB won me over, just picked one up today..

So far quite impressed with the finishing- good balance of polished, satin brushed surfaces and bevels, even the crown is signed "S" which I appreciate. The hands and markers look sharp and I like that the hands are long enough to almost touch the minute track; one of the reasons why I have yet to plunk the $$ down for a Kinetic GMT Diver is the "short" hands set. The bracelet surprisingly has zero rattle and the solid end links fit better to the case compared to the MM300 I had; however due to the size of the clasp it has only one micro adjustment and having no half links I just cannot get a optimal fit for my wrist size.

Obligatory lume shot:

Hopefully it will keep time within Seiko specs...

Tried it on a few nato and Zulu, so which looks better?

And when I removed the stock bracelet I found that the stock spring bar tips were slightly bent at one end (see pic)

Is this normal? Should I get the spring bars replaced before fitting the bracelet back on? If so, where can I buy quality 20mm spring bars for the bracelet ?

imo, stock bracelet or a nice leather strap goes with this watch.

nato/zulu is out ;)

Nice. Like the sarb033. For me, the ss bracelet still looks the best. Too bad for lack of fine size adjustment.
