guys, need ur opinion.

I am negotiating with a seller for a Seiko 6138-0020 aka "Tokei Zara" which i have been hunting for sometimes.
Condition of the watch is good. Very clean dial and glass. All original. without bracelet :(
But timekeeping is terrible and horri-cheeble. Losing 5-10 min per day. Servicing is needed.

His cost is quite high, (guess he might kena conned by the previous owner, never serviced the watch, said got serviced  )
His asking price is $300 firm.
Meaning total cost is $300 + 150(servicing) = $450?

Do u think is worth it to HOOT 1st talk later? :|

Personally I'd run from a movement that's proven to be losing that much per day.. Sometimes during servicing, you'd discover that the only cure for that problem is a part.. A part that no longer exist unless you take it off from another good and running 6138, which will render the donor 6138 to be non-functional..

Your question should then be: is 300 too exp for a pristine case and dial of the overrated, IMHO, tokei zara ?

Tokei Zara have aftermarket dial as well. Must check well. I have one with an aftermarket dial.

Good on you bro, be patient, Keep Calm and Hoot Later :D Movement proven problematic and dial with slight hints of moisture leakage is a big NO for me, I'd stay away from them..

Very sound advice.... which is why I always mention.... dial is very very important! But a aged dial and a moisturized dial are two different things....

i like aged dial. For vintage watches that is one of the many signs of authenticity. No way a watch from the 60s or 70s have pristine dial, especially used. UV causes damage over time even without the owner going out much in the sun.

Bro Herza has got a point, aged / moistured dial is a sign of authenticity, but a moistured dial is just not presentable IMHO.. That's why I don't mind paying more for a changed original dial, as long as they're original :)

came across this black panda: Image
seller claims its with original hands and dials, but sourced through and only see 'white' sweep second hand instead of a 'black' one shown in this pic..
march 1975, does this variant exist?
