Gone... but not forgotten: my first skx mod

Post by big-e-294 » 03 May 2011 10:31

i was looking through my photobucket and i came across these old photos of the first mod i ever did.
the watch was actually a 'feiko' skx011j from ebay - i saw it is a feiko, becoz the case angles and dimensions were not really correct when i compared to my skx007j. it could also be over polished... the dial lettering was also poorly finshed, but it was cheap and when i started out tinkering with modding, i wanted something cheap to play around with :D

i bought the dial, hands and bezel insert all from 10watches (noah). the chapter ring was from yobokies.
i think this dial is quite popular, as it came in different colors, but i went with the silver, simply becoz of the starburst effect. the hands were the batton hands. the original hands i chose had the tail sticking out, but i had to change it to the "non-tail" because it kept falling off. it was later i realised i had pressed the hands on too hard and 'stretched" the whole.. hehe (lesson learnt).

enough talk, here are the peekatures (on various shoes).

From online tutorials and various posts. The open up old watched to trial and error.
Buy cheap tools at first. But cheap tools also makes it harder to learn and make more mistakes.

Check the Articles section iirc I posted the links to the tutorials I used.
