Citizen Diver NY2300
Picked up a Citizen NY2300 diver just two weeks ago. Noticed that Citizen mechanical divers don't seem very popular? Perhaps there isn't many models to choose from..
Was looking for a "smaller" diver just for fun and came across this one. It was small around 41mm to 42mm including crown, probably 38-39mm without and had a nice Pepsi bezel with black dial.
This watch is relatively light and the stock rubber strap is surprisingly more supple than the Z20 / Z22 supplied with Seikos, only thing I dislike is the two tiny keepers. It does wear comfortably due to the smaller footprint.
It was also a lot cheaper compared to a SKX009/007 and even cheaper compared to a SKX013. Sadly it does feel cheaper as well. The crown/stem feels shaky and somehow just more fragile, date wheel fonts are inconsistent and not that all well aligned. The bezel is 60 clicks, but it is surprisingly firm, clicks with "authority" and with little back play; I actually prefer the "feel" of this bezel over my SKX and SRP divers?
Despite its smaller size, the hands are large in proportion and lume is great. This makes reading the time easy even for a lao uncle like me.
The very old 8200 movement can be hand wound which is a highly preferred feature in any mechanical watch for me. However when setting the time, there is a bit of "play" with the hands. However I must have gotten lucky with this one as it keeps time to the tune of +7.8s per day or so thus far.
Have showered, swam, wash the dishes with it and so far the 200m WR is holding up. I believe that it is not a ISO rated diver though?
For about half the price of a SKX/SRP diver the NY2300 is great value for money and with a 3 years warranty from Citizen I think it is one of the best value for $$ watches out there?
Anyone else have got other Citizen divers?

Funny, that you mentioned it. You are right, not much mentioned of the citizen diver till this thread. But I'm Lovin the left handed crown on the gold black model.

Ya, agree that Seiko & Citizen shd re-issue some of their iconic vintage watches. Other brands are having success with theirs.balzebub71 wrote:Wow I wish citizen and Seiko would re-issue their vintage stufflunarin79 wrote:

Re: Citizen Diver NY2300
the number of 007 sold by the minute is making more money than Rolex DateJust series. but if Seiko really were to reissue, folks like Dagaz will have to pang-Gang(放工/ go out of business) already.Trident wrote:Ya, agree that Seiko & Citizen shd re-issue some of their iconic vintage watches. Re: Citizen Diver NY2300
I bought a NY2300 2nd hand for $72 recently but sold it off as it does feel much smaller.
still prefer the skx007- the all time fav!
but its still a decent watch

Re: Citizen Diver NY2300
Somehow, I found the font on the NY2300 watchface was better-looking than that of the 007, plus the fact that it was lighter, whereas the 007 was bruising my wrist with the movement afforded by its shape and the jubilee. So I sold the 007 , and got a Black Monster instead. Both are in my regular rotation, along with a blue Scuba Dude.
