Polishing/Refinishing Seiko Case

Just dropped my SBCM023 off at TS for a crystal change, the pretty deep scratches could not be unseen... While there was "persauded" to might as well go for a full service including battery change, new seals, regulation and pressure test and a simple bracelet clasp repair blah blah. It was surprisingly affordable. However they do not polish or refinish watches.

So wondering if there is anyone in Singapore that can polish Seiko watches? At a reasonable / affordable price? While I really dig the 8F35 movement and the idea of a diver with perpetual calendar and super accuracy. I do not want to spend too much to spiff up the watch..

bro i have went around checking before, almost no one would want to polish a seiko watch.
(with the exception of one shop at far east plaza i think, but the shop owner convinced me otherwise as it was not worth the price :? )

i think you are better off leaving it as it is haha.

You can have a look at this site:

Its a neat little DIY kit that you can try it yourself. Just follow the instructions and slowly work your way until u get the perfect polish. -

Anyway, this is from Watch U Seek.

This guy managed to do a great job on his Clasp.

That's for the bracelet.

Refinishing the case would be a completely different monster.

You'll have to strip it down to bare case to do a proper and clean job, especially if your case has alternate brush and polished facets. And it gets really complicated if there and nicks and dings on the case and you want to remove as much of that as possible too!

Not easy but well worth the time if you consider the whole process part of the hobby. :)

Yeah definitely.

The case is the tough part but I think with some good taping techniques, a steady hand and lots of courage, a good job can be done.

So long as the finishing on ur Seiko isn't of those Grand Seiko Zaratsu polish standards or Dia-shield coated, its worth a shot.

I'm planning to get one of those kits and try it on my Seiko Premier Kinetic so that at least if I screw it up, its not that painful since I got it as a gift.

Heh once upon a time i tried to refinish my speedmaster clasp.. turned out to be a disaster..ended up with an uneven brushed look. Fortunately Omega managed to undo my ineptness when it was sent for full service.

Now i don't dare to take a scratch pen or scotch brite to any of my watches...

I think for the SBCM023, i will just live with the scratches and light dings on the case sides. Will probably do a more forceful job with capecod to remove the lighter scratches from the polished surfaces on the sides. May decide to have Seiko replace the clasp if it is cheap and if they can''t repair it as it feels mushy without a positive click when i push down to close it..

Saw this on a fb forum. Not sure whether the rates are reasonable.

Seriously, unless I see the before and after picts, I have my doubts.

Having done a refinish on my King Seiko myself, its not a simple $80 job unless its purely using a buffing wheel and/or a dremel buffing stub.
Many things just cannot be done using a buffer. Need to be done by hand unless you have specialised tools/equipment, without which, can take hours of patient handiwork.

not sure whether they do it for Seiko, bro. The fb post stated $200 is for Rolex servicing and polish. Never own Rolex so no chance to ask. :)

The. 30min polishing should reflect buffing of the case only. I seriously doubt that they would strip the movement to clean both the inside and outside of the case
