You the man! Fantastic snaps of marine life. I have a friend who snaps for some diver mags. He is good but you are damn close man. Of course he snaps his shots under water... Keep em coming. Great to see what our dive watches are missing being worn on mostly desk divers. hahaha.

Thanks bro, I only brought one lens, the 35mm f1.4 and a Nikon D700 cam to Thailand recently. The combo weighs 1.85 kg! But what the hell, I seldom go for holidays, heavy also can tahan la, lol.softup wrote:wish i could take so nice pics as u

I regretted not bringing my 50mm f1.2 lens and a CPL filter and Not using the lens hood which I brought along.
May be I will post some photos of my Thailand trip later.

Nice photos. I can sense the pros and a must have 35mm lens for photography.

Re: SEA Aquarium
Just to clarify, for Sea Aquarium, although mostly shot with 35mm, some are shot with a 100mm lens like the clown fishes.Wade wrote:Will I get the same nice photo as ur, if I'm using e 35mm on D5200?chriscentro wrote:

If you use your combo at Sea Aquarium, you should get nice photos too if you get your shutter speed, aperture, ISO and composition right.
Try not use flash at the aquarium unless it's off camera.

May I know what is your shutter speed, aperture & ISO for 35mm?chriscentro wrote:Just to clarify, for Sea Aquarium, although mostly shot with 35mm, some are shot with a 100mm lens like the clown fishes.Wade wrote: Will I get the same nice photo as ur, if I'm using e 35mm on D5200?

Re: SEA Aquarium
Different tanks may have different amount of lighting. So, you probably want to maintain about 1/80 sec shutter speed, aperture from f1.8 - f2.5 and adjust your ISO from 400 upwards to attain the shutter speed. Check your cam's LCD to see if your shots are well exposed. Try to get your lens as near to the glass as possible to avoid reflections.Wade wrote:May I know what is your shutter speed, aperture & ISO for 35mm?chriscentro wrote: Just to clarify, for Sea Aquarium, although mostly shot with 35mm, some are shot with a 100mm lens like the clown fishes.

I shot a lot and delete a lot cos it's not really easy to shoot through the thick glass. So don't worry if you have many bad shots.
You can practice on Squirrel Fish, they are stationery most of the time, lol.
Re: SEA Aquarium
Chriscentro bro, abit of side track. for your experience, what are the idea of shutter speed, aperture and ISO for taking landscape and portrait?
Ahet type of format are you using Raw or JPEG or both for photos?

Re: SEA Aquarium
Oh sorry, being kiasu, I use both jpegs and RAW. I usually convert from Raw, unless the jpeg is already very nice then no pp.Wade wrote:Chriscentro bro, abit of side track. for your experience, what are the idea of shutter speed, aperture and ISO for taking landscape and portrait?

For portrait, most of the time I use the widest aperture available. I seldom shoot landscape, usually should use minimum f8, to f16.
Whatever you shoot, control the shutter speed so that there will be no camera shake or shutter speed not enough to stop the subject's motion.
If after adjusting your aperture, you can't get a fast enough shutter speed, then up your ISO. In this way, your shutter speed will go up as the sensor will be more sensitive to light.
For beginners, use aperture priority mode (which I use most of the time). Sometimes I go full manual.
