1863 movt should be more elaborated..decorated since its seen with display caseback but 1861 normally with normal caseback.

After googling...here's what I got;

http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t= ... #msg_num_2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The 1863 has an added extra jewel and a metal brake is used for the chronograph mechanism vs. the nylon one on the 1861 and it has a nicer finish to the movement. All three of those features make the 1863 movement more pleasing to look at, but there is a downside to using a metal brake in that it does wear down over time and require oiling whereas the nylon break in the 1861 movement does not. All that really means to you as the owner is that eventually you will have to pay to replace the metal brake after many years of use and servicing.

http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/speedy ... 71616.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Basically, the 1863 is the decorated version of the 1861. It is Rhodium plated (or gold in the case of the 863), and is designed to go with a display back. When Omega made a display backed Speedy with a hesalite crystal (the 3572.50), is also used the 1863.

http://jholbrook.proboards.com/index.cg ... hread=4142" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
To clarify, both the 1861 and the 1863 have the extra jewel. The 863 has the 18th but the bridge still says "Seventeen".
Apparently Omega put "Eighteen" on all the rhodium bridges and included the 18th on the 1861 as well as the 1863.

http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/ome ... read;id=50" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Speedmaster Pro 1861 vs. 1863, what a brochure just in from Omega tells me both movements have 18 jewels, 45 hour power reserve, 21.6 frequency, and are based on the Lemania 1873 calibre. It further says both have white rhodium plated traditional chronograph movements with special waves. It describes the 1863 movement as 'deluxe version with additional waves.

The current production of cal.861's uses a plastic part, which is not showed in the cal.861 movement below. The Speedmaster Professional which have the see-through case-back, use a Cal. 863. This is a cal.861 which was a bit restyled for better looks. The plastic part has disapeard in the cal. 863. Ofcourse ;-)
