Bulova Precisionist / Accutron II

Post by maxxevv » 11 Nov 2014 13:53

Was looking at some of the Youtube videos for these, pretty interesting quartz movement. Its like a 'poor man's Spring Drive' in the way it sweeps !

http://youtu.be/TTI1qGxuvrU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Springdrive vs Precisionist:

Anyone got any experience with them ?? Also, anywhere to find them in SG ??

Thanks.

Locally had not seen it... Overseas... in my last Osaka trip.
Priced about SGD$700 after coversion for the diver specs piece with big case and bracelet @ Yodobashi... quite tempted to get then... luckily forgotten to bring along my overseas transactable CC, or else...

By the way, Asford now have one flieger styled model for sale...

Yah.. very tempting, cos its not too expensive if you look around on the web. But I really want to see the thing in the flesh to decide if its worth the coins.

And of course, if local prices are competitive, would buy local too.

Tempting but the bulova precisionist known to grow more inaccurate as he watch ages? Plus so far all the design is really in my opinion CMI?

It does ??? !!!

That's bad ... I was more inclined towards the Accutron II ones with the slightly slimmed down designs and supposedly modified Precisionist movements.

Looks like more research is in required. Thanks! ;)

Oh, that's a nice design but I'm partial towards plain stainless steel finishes as I find that they 'age' better. :)

Accutron II design quite nice. Someone did a review somewhere..I think. Too early to tell if long term accuracy will deteriorate for Accutron II? Anyway unless u demand accuracy to +/- 20s per year it should not be a problem.

Haha... yah, I don't! I'll be quite happy with 1 second a week for quartz.

But the big draw for me really is the smooth , smooth sweep.... it really is like a " PMSD" ... " Poor Man's Spring Drive "

Tangs Vivocity carry the white stainless steel version for $750. Can go there to handle the watch before making the decision.

Thanks for the update ! But that's kinda pricey ( at SG$750/-) compared to online prices though.

Will drop by for a look maybe later in the week or when I'm in the area. Would certainly like to see the Accutron II range is there too. ;)

Get the real accutron tuning fork!
Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't
own it, but you can use it. You can't keep
it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it
you can never get it back.

Been eyeing this bulova accutron II diver. Any one knows if it's an auto movement or the precsionist?

it's precisionist but I think you'll be bothered by the non centralised line on the triangle, lol.

U mean the triangle isn't lined up properly? But I just read somewhere that although the precisionist movement in the accutron ii maintains the sweep seconds hand, accuracy had to be reduced to 5-10s per month instead of 10s per year due to the decrease in size?

look at the line drawn across the triangle, it doesn't seem to hit directly at the bottom tip of the triangle.
See the original, better aligned.

i believe the non alignment is due to the inner rotating bezel?
