[Review] Credor GCAY996
Posted: 01 Mar 2013 09:52
My first purchase of 2013.
First of all, it's the Credor GCAY996 circa 1995 powered with the 4S79A movement. There isn't much info on this model since it's a 90s model and not a popular one, so it's not well documented on the usual Seiko sites and forums.
It's not a very big watch at 37mm with a slim case profile since it's a manual winding movement. Been a while since I last handled a pure manual winding watch.
The dial is beautiful, with power reserve on the left and sub seconds at the bottom.
A simple, no frills case back with some stains to clean.
The case is slim, 1 of the slimmest in my collection, although there are slimmer manual winding Russian watches.
Decorated case back cover, not well finished but still it's decorated. As compared to a Seiko Sumo with a normal case back: http://www.thewatchsite.com/index.php?topic=23537.0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Disclaimer to Sumo owners, no offense intended )
Lo and behold, the 4S79A, what a beauty. I love manual winding watches because the entire bridge is exposed with Geneve stripes. Piece of art. Now I wish I have a transparent case back....
The entire case is stainless steel except the bezel plated in gold.
Lastly, here's a group shot of my under 40mm watches.
Beautiful pieces, the Credor just stands out along with the Blue Spark...
