[Review] Seiko SRP580K1

Post by roo7 » 06 Sep 2014 15:50

Mind was weak when I saw this, even I told myself no more divers. Technically, this is not. A 100M watch, no count down bezel and it's gold !

I still have a bit of soft spot for gold watches on brown straps. Even the buckle has the same treatment. :D

Image
Dials with such date window always caught my eye, somehow it's nicer this way, seen it in some other tool watches. Second hand is a nice touch too, it can be too gimmicky at times but for this, it's a nice touch.

Image
Bezel is smooth and bi-directional, can be use for general compass reading, like trying to figure out where's North in a general direction.

Image
A very common pose for watches, so nicely captured that I'm using it as my wallpaper

Image
The Golden Buckle.

Now I don't have an excuse to buy a bronze watch any more, since most of them are divers.

Plus points:
Date window, second hand, gold finish.

Minus points:
The blasted finishing can be better, make it 200M with a screw down.

Didn't took the back but it's on a transparent case back.

Was on the fence myself on this piece. Love the deep olive-ish dial and the matte gold.

Same thoughts as you, if this comes with a screwdown crown, I'll probably get it when i first handled it,haha.

Nice review.

Nice catch and review roo.

Was tempted myself when I saw this but good thing the flesh did not cave to the intense lust for this. Thought the buckle for these were well made and attractive.

the prominent triangle & strips made you perceived that way. Come to think of it... Maybe a little. :)

Nice pictures! I was looking at the steel piece as well, but over time I started to pick on the fact that it didn't have numerical indexes.

Now, about three weeks on, I've sort of lost the urge to want to buy it :(

Pros:
- Bi-Directional compass bezel
- The second hand
- Prospex :)

Cons:
- Wrist watch looks too weird without hour makers...
