My Brother-In-law works for Tiger Air, he said theft cases are on the rise. Do take extra care, even for hand-carry bags.... especially flights between China cities.

Unless the bags don't leave your line of sight, chance of people looting from our luggage bags is always there. Just wear a cheap watch will do.
