To me, a watch is a safe queen when i wear it less than once every few months, and it is always left in the safe or a locked display when not on wrist (so it is even less accessible).
I always make it a point to wear my watches, and even so, i do have a safe queen (a Jaeger RG MC). Unsure if it is an excuse, but i find it too fragile to wear daily, and too expensive to replace/repair. And somemore i'm not staying at my own residence 3 days a week; the lack of a safe at my home would mean that i lock the watch at my parent's flat, making it even more troublesome to fetch and wear.
As to other watches i own, i find them robust enough for frequent wear, and not too expensive to repair should i damage it somehow... think i may just sell my safe queen away soon, it deserves more wrist time.
what about you? whats your safe queen story?
Safe Queens, you have any?

Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't
own it, but you can use it. You can't keep
it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it
you can never get it back.
