[quote="oOsiMm"]there are lots of brand from overseas but easiest way is to get locally from katena or any watch supplies store.... wd40 has high viscocity and does thickens a bit after some time...so no no in movt..

Many watchmakers and clockmakers make the mistake of using the same thin lubricant for the first and second wheels as they do for the escapement. When lubricating a watch or clock, consider using the following rule of thumb:
1) use a heavy lubricant for high-torque, low-speed applications (mainspring, 1st and 2nd wheel pivots), and
2) use a light lubricant for low-torque, high-speed applications (3rd, 4th, escape wheel pivots, balance pivots, escape wheel teeth, clock strike governor pivots, etc.).

Also consider climate: Swiss watch oils are formulated in the Swiss Alps, and even most clock oils are almost as thin as water, at least in warm climates. While clock and watch oils have some thickness in colder climate conditions, they are very thin and less effective in warmer climates. We are not told to use different oils for timepieces intended for use in the cold Alps than for use in the hot desert.

osim, that blue thing in your first pic , top left corner, is that new case opener you just bought? looks like it has a centre wheel to adjust the distance of the 2 teeth.

btw, do u use watchmakers' glasses ? which one do you find most comfortable and useful ? :)

ya thats the new case opener. Its much better than 2 prongs (with long handle version) as this one has better grip,lesser chance of slippage. Also it lies low and in better contact with caseback slots.. handy enough to be put in your pocket.

I have few loupes and head mount magifying glass..the head mount one is easier and you can find in mustafa(more expensive) and also katena @ Rochor,else if you want cheaper version,go to sim lim tower (level 1 shops has riao) and these comes with light or no light.

built in LED light helps when you looking at closeup but not neccesary if you have a good table lamp..

various types sold locally;

-head loupe on thin flexible wire (by most watch repairman)
-head loupe only (handheld or attached to your spectacle)
-head mount magnifying glasses with velcro
-head mount magnifying glasses with LED light -velcro
