which hand do you wear your watch on?

Post by perdedor » 20 Jan 2012 10:01

im a right hander and i wear my watch on my right arm... think its family influence.. has been wearing like this since young.
but i do take it off to wear it on my left hand whenever im playing racket sports..

why do people (right-handers) often wear their watch on their left? is it:
- easy to wear (use right hand to fit the watch on)
- prevent damage to the watch (esp. mechanical) due to excessive/faster movement from master hand??
- inconvenience to daily activities of living (writing, typing on keyboard etc.) if same hand (right hander on right)

lai lai discuss! :D

I'm left handed and wear my watch on my left arm ...
I have a "beater" which I wear for sports ... and a "water-resist" for water sports ...

As a right hander, naturally right hand is bigger than left hand so in order to balance, I wore my watch on the left. Sometime, I do wear watch on both hands.

im a right hander, wearing watches on the left hand always. guess its more of left hand being the utility hand, e.g. put things like watches, bracelets on that hand while right hand is more for doing tasks for me.. ;)

i am a right handed but i used to wear it on the right hand when i was younger. probably cause my dad also wear his on the right.

switch to left cause didn't want to scratch the watch when i starting working some part time job.
now more like habit and also don't want to damage the watch (since gotten this hobby).

For me, being right handed, it is easier and more natural to operate watch functions with right hand, particularly with digital watches like gshocks (where buttons are small) or even chronograph buttons.

When younger, fine motor skills (pressing small buttons, etc) were easier to do with dominant hand. So it is also partly habit since young.

Use right hand more often so naturally watch on left

Think it's because last time all manual watch, so right handers wear watch on their left hand so that they can easily use their right hand to wind their watch if necessary.

But than, I'm a right hander who wears it on my right arm instead. No idea why also.
