Seiko daily wearer
Seiko daily wearer
Hi pals,
Currently I have a skx009 on jubilee. Love the whole look of it as it's eye catching with a retro vibe. The jubilee also adds the bling factor. However I may not want to wear it everyday as the retro bling look may not suit more dress up days.
Hence am looking for a more serious diver watch that is more conservative and classy to be worn with office wear and semi formal (long sleeve shirt with jeans) attire.
Was considering the new srp monster in black and bracelet form but don't know if the sharp indices make for versatility.
The sumo seems to get rave reviews but to me, it sometimes looks nice, at times look 'not sharp', u know..chunky..with the big font on bezel.
I kinda think the skx007 on oyster is the best balanced one. Classy, understated and nice size for a daily wearer. But I already got the 009 on jubilee :/ would think my $ will be put to better use.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Seiko daily wearer
Monster in my opinion is quite the casual watch. I think one of the most value for money and versatile would be the 007 on oyster bracelet or leather strap. Since u already have a 009, perhaps the shogun is a good choice? Serious and classy looking, no bling, light, fits under a long sleeve.

Perhaps u can give a price range as the guys here have very wide knowledge and some recommendations can serious lighten your wallet.
Re: Seiko daily wearer
The mm300 would be a sharp choice, my daily wearer is:
I do NOT need another watch , I have enough watches ...
Re: Seiko daily wearer
haha okay. I think i haven't stated my budget..Think I like my cash more, so I sold my omega smp but now hard pressed to find a cheaper replacement. I love the MM300, but sadly..don't wish to spend that amt of $.
-$500 to $600 max
-automatic (so the tunas are out la. plus not v versatile leh. and it's $1k)
-Preferably Seiko (non Seiko 5, but am open)
How about non-divers? Any good choices? I like Divers because they are overall tougher watches, and seem to be pretty versatile.
Looking at my 009 as I type this. So swee.

I think the SRP529 would make a good choice
Re: Seiko daily wearer
For that price range and seiko diver I would say just do strap change for your 009 good enough..
If really want a separate watch then the skx007 is most cost effective imho.
Happy hunting

Re: Seiko daily wearer
Pre-owned sumo should fit your budget
Can always order a smaller font bezel insert.

I'm currently getting myself poisoned by the Sumos too, should hit all 3 of your criteria too!doinkydoink wrote:Pre-owned sumo should fit your budget

Re: Seiko daily wearer
Skip the sumo and hoot mm300 or mm600.
Sumo wears much longer due to the lugs and honestly looks good only on the stock bracelet due to large gap between strap end and case.

Re: Seiko daily wearer
I also like mm300 ah but don't want spend so much on watch yet. My skx009 is a gift so still not count lol. Wanted to go big time at sims ave to check out sumo but the shop moved!! Sian.
Perhaps I should just get a snzh. But one thing I don't like is that's it's a 'homage' to BFF.

Re: Seiko daily wearer
If you don't mod the dial of the snzh 5x, the resemblance isn't that close? Sumo u can go skywatch/watch fashion at people's park to try on, they are expensive. Think got a few used one floating around also.mr_keynes wrote:I also like mm300 ah but don't want spend so much on watch yet. My skx009 is a gift so still not count lol. Re: Seiko daily wearer
At this price range, I woild go for a new piece. In fact I would go for new if the production is still running where possible. Only for those out of production or vintage peices then no choice but to buy used. My two cents worth.
I think BT moved to Commonweath. Fyi.

Re: Seiko daily wearer
What you guys think of the SNZH55 and SSC (solar chronograph diver)?
Kinda like the understated elegance of the snzh, but then recently caught the modern vibe of the SSC (blue/black).
I know the SSC is quartz but such a beautiful watch...

What about a Seiko Kinetic Diver – SKA579P2? K2 selling and it is quite a nice and rugged watch.
