Orange Monster or SKX009

Hey guys. I need your advise. I already have the SKX007 last Nov '14 and have been loving it. Changed the straps here and there.

I'm getting another piece for Christmas and torn between the new OM versus SKX009. I love the thought of having a different version of the SKX (pepsi) at the same time have been coveting the look and finish of the OM.

Please help me decide. Do you think getting the SKX009 is not of great value versus in getting the OM for my collection and rotation? For those who have been in the same situation before, would be glad to hear from you and what you decided.

I had the OM and SKX009 at one time, before I sold the 009. Both were nice pieces but the OM was more unique in every way, and spoke to me a lot more than the 009. To me, the Pepsi bezel is most strongly associated with the GMT Master. The orange dial on the other hand... There's a reason the OM got its nickname.

You'll be satisfied with both I think, but the OM will be a more different addition.

That's what I like about the 009, it gives me a different SKX than my 007. I'm getting fond of changing the straps which I think is limited when you have the OM. Tbh, I have considered both the 007 and the OM before I ended up with the 007. I guess I should get the OM as it was one of my choices then.

Thanks for the help, guys. Looks like I should be getting the 2nd gen OM afterall. You're right, the SKX009 is only slightly different than the SKX007. The OM will definitely add variety to my collection as it has a class of its own.

I had the 009 for more than a year, then wanted to get another diver. Choosing between the 007, black monster, snzh..

Eventually still went for the 007 first as I really love the case shape and evergreen looks. Plus it would be a gift from my gf so it'll likely be a keeper. I asked myself which watch I would confirm keep and it's the 007 for its classic design. The black monster may not have that endearing 'evergreen' look. That said, I don't rule out getting a BM in future!

But I just don't get the OM..the orange color looks quite..cheap. I think the 011 orange looks better.

Honestly, I went to an AD to try the BM and OM but I'm worried that if I get the OM, it may not get much wrist time and can't compete with the 007. It's unique in some way, though. Perhaps it will serve it's purpose once I have it.

I had the old OM and still prefer it over the new 4r OM.
Simply becos the older OM has a heft that the new OM seems to be lacking.
The older OM are heavier.
The older crown is not as grippy, but seems to look better with the case than the knurled crown.

I do agree on one point, the handwinding and hacking is a handy feature.

But that's just me. I've tested my OM and can confirm its one tough watch.
