Re: K2 Thread
dun think you can svc a quartz or electronic watch.johnwongtw wrote:Hi everyone, I have a Seiko 7A28 7040, brought it to K2 asked Mr. Goh if he could service the watch for me, apparently he doesnt do servicing for these vintage chronos. I bought the watch from ebay recently, its running perfectly, I had the battery changed recently at Thong Sia.
Is there a need to service these vintages if they are running fine? Would like to seek the advices of the bros and gurus here please
The most he can do is change the caseback gaskets/ o ring, clean up the contact pt for battery.
There's a coil in quartz watch that can be changed, but i dun think K2 stock much of that, too many variant.
just curious, how much did thong sia charge you for the battery???
Looking for m/c ebc brake pads and k&n air filter, PM me.
Re: K2 Thread
Oh I see. Thanks for response, Mr Goh says if the watch is running no need to service, just change new battery.
Thong Sia charged me $12 for battery change before gst. Main idea was to get them to open up and see if they have any comments on the insides of the watch or not. They replaced battery and didn't mention any problems. So I guess everything ok. K2 charge $6. Citichain charged $5 for my ellese watch.

Re: K2 Thread
Bro,if your watch not damaged, dont go service..just play attention to the battery so that's no leakage.
IRCC there are few type of tests to see what is damaged in a quartz watch and there are few parts that are normally the cause of a faulty watch;
using pulse tester to see if the movement is still 'alive'..if alive(green light/sound) and hands not moving, means movement/hands parts something wrong riao...needs open up and service/replacement. If not alive, then probably replace the whole circuit board or coil .
use small metal compass place on top of movement and see if the compass arrow deflects very slightly to left and right or not.this means sign of life in watch.
-PCB/circuit board (lousy quality/soldering/battery leakage/moisture etc)
can try to clean up and resolder some joints/bridging etc but wouldnt look nice and 100%. normally just change whole circuit board from donor watch. but firstly must knw hw to test using multimeter..
-watch Coil(broken coil,needs replacement)
change the whole coil.
-movement parts,gears damaged etc
replace movement from donor watch or certain part if you can obtain it.

Thanks Osim bro! Very enlightening! Good thing all my watches so far so good, hopefully won't need to run these tests anytime soon *fingers crossed*
