Even though many collectors prefer the larger Seiko Diver watches, these Seiko dress watches are nice too.

The Suwa Seikosha :1963

Photo showing the Grand Seiko 43999, with the Chronometer wording, Grand Seiko, Diashock 35 Jewels,Made in Japan 43999TO and the Taiyo logo and the 5722-9990

These two Seiko are one of the few beautiful Grand Seiko ever produced during the 1960's till now A total of 81,000 units of Cal.430 and 5722 were produced.

The taiyo is powered by a chronometer (Seiko internal Chronometer declaration) 35 jewels low beat 18,000 bph Cal.430 movement. It is called self-dater because it has quick set date function. Taiyo is the highest quality masterpiece of low beat GS.

Love the quality of movements and the case and back cases.

1st and foremost.
You need to know what you want, which you want.

Then, stay focus and check out all avail sales websites. I usually use watchrecon. Type in what you looking for and sometimes you get lucky. Local watch forum is also good. I prefer local dealing as this give me chance to meetup the owner too. I like tok. Can try out yahoo japan, rakuten and the 3 main japan sales sites.

Be patience and watch collecting is not overnight. Is a test of your patience and your love.

Cheers

It would be nice!

There are some smaller vintage watch shops at Samsuipo (which test collectors eyes and experience as there are also fakes), a few second shops at 信和中心 , Holiday Inn. Many traditional vintage watch shops have closed and being replaced by second hand watch shops..

Bro Maxbliss888, your collection really da bomb! No wonder you named yourself maximum bliss! I would be blissfully happy if I have half of what you have shown.. Thanks for sharing.

As for Vintage collection, I have much to learn but as Bro Ivan said, I may have the love but may just not have the patience for htis exotic branch of our hobby.. but hey if HK learning trip is on I buy the roasted goose! 8-)

Bro Ivan is right. Set your collection direction first and stay focus. Visit the vintage watch shops to have a feel of the prices and watches. Start hunting after that!

With the internet, informations are plentiful..however, it also means that good lobang are less as prices are so transparent now.. Get the best condition you can find..

In Hong Kong, there are watch gathering where collectors meet to chat and have simple lunches. Moreover, the collectors will inform each other when they are bidding for certain watches to avoid competition among the groups..haha.

Agree on this and it is true about informations on internet. From day 1 I have set my focus on Seiko Divers. When I saw for the 1st time that 6309-7040 when I was still in university, I thought to myself, I'm gonna get me one of those.
My hunt went full circle when I snatched a 6105-8119 and later on the 6309-7040 both from Bro watchlooker by the way, whom I met over at SCWF and I believe is also a member here. When I saw his ad that the watch was located in Singapore, it was like I hit the jackpot! I prefer local transactions, I feel safer.
Although the Emperor is not a vintage, it was also through the internet that I became aware of it's existence and how I was able to acquire it. Searching and surfing later on led me here and it's been great so far.

I leave you with my vintages, the 6105 and 6309. Signing out for the day, tired already. Until next time. G'nite Bros!
