Keeping it somewhat Japanese....

There's the 8F56 perpetual quartz family if you can ever find them.... SBQJ015's and it's relations are few and far between now. There was also a Seiko Alpinist with this movement - SBCJ019 & 21, but again will likely be sold out everywhere.

Looking a bit further, there's the Orient GMT lines. The International ones are mostly basic, non-independent varieties, though there are a few gems like this: http://www.orient-watch.com/feature/gmt/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. (Also the Worldtimer series, but don't think that's what you'e looking for...)

Alternatively, there's the new Orient Star JDM, which looks just brilliant but is much closer to your 1k cut-off than you might be comfortable with (see rakuten, $898, after removing 5% sales tax, then + delivery and GST): http://www.orient-watch.jp/product/cate ... ory_id=164" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And finally, the Citizens.... Quite a few Eco-drive GMT's, but my vote goes to the Nighthawk!

The OrienStar GMT looks interesting. I was actually thinking of taking a closer look at this one and go for it. Sadly, my Jeepun trip *poofed*. Bic Camera in Japan sometimes have good offers for Orient Star time pieces. With sales tax rebate + savings from shipping + savings from local GST, should be a good deal grabbing one there.

Try Tokei-ya Hanzaemon:

Y59,500 (no sales tax) + ~Y2,000 shipping = ~$927. * 1.07 GST = $992! :D

But as sinner said, can get for cheaper! ;)
