Recommend me a daily beater

Post by Advancer » 31 Oct 2012 13:16

Hi all, i just sold off my seiko sinn/spork yesterday and before that i was using the old black monster as my daily beater.
As i currently own the ion coated srp311 monster as my weekend watch, i would like you guys to recommend me a daily beater watch.
I am reluctant to use my ion coated monster as my job is very physical and i may scratch my watch easy thus an ion coated watch is not recommended.
My budget is not more than $350 preferably and i am not into older makes of seikos.
Any recommendation from you guys????

how about the srp baby tuna/sardine can series? it has a plastic shroud that can be replaced quite easily. it also uses the same movement as your srp 311.

Thanks for your contribution. Don't really like the hands of the baby tuna. But i will consider it.

In this case, you're most likely to be limited to the latest monsters, or the Seiko Military with nato strap. Nothing else.

Is there any official bracelet for the military series? What's the lug size?
And I only see 3 variants for it.

Get a G shock. More practical for physical jobs.

I am also considering srp025 which I thought resembles my previous Spork.

This is my current beater ..

Mr Yeoman reckons it looks like a 'Piston' while others call it 'Puck', I like 'Piston'.

SKX007, reasonable price, easily resell, plenty of parts, plenty of mod parts.

skx007 has already stop production or not? Seems like still so popular and many in the market....

I got a preloved orange Sumo for his budgeted amt. Can find but got to keep eyes wide open.

Or even one of the Seiko 5 divers... pre-loved is a good way to go... meet budget and get some good loot!

If you are working with a budget of < $200, do consider the skx series. They are truly a beater tool watch with plenty of rooms for customisation down the road.

If you have a slightly higher budget, another watch to consider would be the Seiko Fifty Five Fanthom aka FFF. :)

The SKX007/009 are good choices. Also can consider a Stargate as it is simple yet elegant.

For quartz models I can suggest getting a Kinetic divers or Daytona.

Most of these can be had online (used) for under $200.
