Strap Recommendation for SKX171
Hi guys. Recently dug out my skx171 from the cupboard. I thought it was missing and so glad I found it. But sadly, the strap broke because the rubber sort of "melted". Been about a year alr in the cupboard. Anyone can recommend a place to get a replacement strap? Would be good if it's possible to get the same design. However, other recommendations which go well with this watch are also welcome! Not looking for a metal strap though.
Many thanks for any help!

imo, any 22mm leather strap will match with the classic 171

Thanks for the reco. Is there any place that you guys would recommend with a good selection of straps? Sorry I'm quite the newbie here. Don't want to get chopped.lunarin79 wrote:imo, any 22mm leather strap will match with the classic 171
Anyway, I'm a little apprehensive about leather straps cause I'm a pretty sweaty guy. Leather straps will smell if it gets into contact with sweat too often right?
Re: Strap Recommendation for SKX171
can try a nato/zulu.. also will smell one if sweat... but at least can wash and dry

K2 has these OEM flat vented straps that are much softer feel than the original Seiko flat vented straps.funky_banana wrote:I personally prefer the flat vent strap then the normal ones

you could give those a try.
alternatively, you can try those maratac elite styled straps.
Re: Strap Recommendation for SKX171
yea, the OEM that K2 sells are actually quite comfy.big-e-294 wrote:

i have one black maratac elite with orange stitching but no longer wearing as the strap was a bit long. think small wrist can forget about wearing them. and they are quite comfortable to wear too.
another one would be the normal kevlar strap?

Re: Strap Recommendation for SKX171
Many thanks for the recommendations! The flat vent strap and maratac elite styled straps both look great on the 171! Will make a trip to K2 when I'm free to change the strap. May I know what's the max price I should be paying for either of these 2 straps? Still a student so really I hope I don't overpay for it. Hopefully they're under $50.
Thanks for the suggestion on the nato and zulu but it's not really the style i'm looking for.
Anyway some of the nicks look really familiar you guys are from edmw seiko club right? I bought this watch off one of the seiko guys in that thread as well. But I can't for the life of me remember his nick.

Thanks for these 2 suggestions. I googled the maratec styled straps as well and I really like them also.big-e-294 wrote:K2 has these OEM flat vented straps that are much softer feel than the original Seiko flat vented straps.funky_banana wrote:I personally prefer the flat vent strap then the normal ones

Can you shed some light on the prices of these 2? I hope I don't overpay for them. Or is K2 generally safe for newbies as well?

Don't worry if your name Robert, Mr. Goh's reputation is darned good. No idea on pricing, but can't think they're going to be that expensive.

Re: Strap Recommendation for SKX171
I don't think k2 have the maratac elite strap. you can get them in eBay or online shops such as broadarrow.net where I got mine
Howard(iirc his name) from broadarrow is a nice chap. his response is quick and shipping time is reasonable. think his pricing wouldn't cost more than $50 for sure.
for goh price is definitely reasonable

Re: Strap Recommendation for SKX171
the problem with their straps there is the wider ur lug width, the more expensive it gets.kuang89 wrote:bencoolen has plenty of shops selling straps..go sure sure have wat u want
not like K2 or even twinkle 18mm to 28mm straps all same price.

Hi guys. I went to change to the Flat Vented strap already. Thanks for the recommendation. Was expecting it to be a lot more expensive. Haha.
