Golden Tuna

Post by lemonjelliee » 05 Jul 2013 14:32

Guys, i think i might have been bitten by the golden tuna virus....

i tried to google around for info on the golden tuna but information was mixed at best.

Can i ask for some valued input on the various models available along with model number? i'm hoping to get a golden tuna with the kanji date wheel...

Would be fantastic if you guys can advise me on what price im expected to pay for a golden tuna as well. ive seen some going on evil bay for 4k+ and some as low as 700 bucks ..

super confused!

humble thanks to everyone in advance !

Just share with u what I've read in my research on the net last year.
Others may feel free to add/correct me:

1978 - World's first quartz powered professional dive watch 7549-7009 (600m)
Ti case and shroud
Also worn by Roger Moore in the James Bond movie "For Your Eyes Only"

Image

~1985/86 - Seiko 7c46-7008 (1000m) sold as model SSBS018
Has english/kanji day.
Dial says:
PROFESSIONAL 1000m
Ti case and ceramic shroud
This is a JDM model

Image

~1999/2000 - 7c46-0AB0 (1000m)
Sometimes referred to as the reissue of SSBS018, but marketed outside Japan. Primarily in Taiwan.
Sold as model S23611J1
Has english/spanish day.
Dial says:
PROFESSIONAL DIVER'S 1000m
Ti case and ceramic shroud (identical to SSBS018)

They all use Seiko flat vented dive strap with matching Ti Nitride gold color buckle.

I believe only ssbs018 has a matching gold color keeper. While the rest has the standard black rubber keeper.

I'm not 100% sure on the keeper part howeve... Which is gold, which is not :?:

The first model does not hv kanji day. Sorry forgot to mention.

For these 3 models, prices range from 900-1.9k. Depending on condition and packaging.
Prices change, you can search various forums to gauge the prices.
The vintage 7549 is the "cheapest" of the 3.
S23611j1 comes up fm time to time locally and on intl forum.
SSBS018 is harder to come by. But u do see it FS occasionally.
