Been thinking of an MM300 lately
Hi Guys,
This is my first post here, and its perhaps time to buy that elusive MM300. I always wanted to own a Seiko, but my first a SPR455K1 was disappointing as it felt too colorful or modern or blingy for a watch, or simply lacked the soul or a serious tool/dive watch. No surprise, it did not last more than a week.
Now however, I have my mind made up to move in for a MM300, but then I have a few questions.
Firstly, I would like to try out the MM300 on my wrists before getting one, so can anyone suggest a shop which has one at the moment. Appears these are sold out at BigTime(checked via phone call), Vivo and Jem Seiko boutiques. I did manage to try the MM600 at Vivo which sat perfectly on my wrist, and never have I felt a watch of that size and weight, fit my wrist that well. Liked it, but prefer dials without power reserve etc, which for me make the dial very busy. Thats even before I looked at the price tag.
Does the MM300 fit similar to the MM600, or rather does it have the same lug-case back design?.
I relatively new to the Seiko area so please pardon my lack of knowledge.
Next, I have been looking at the used market, but I am unsure if the MM300 has changed over the years or if Seiko has introduced any subtle changes or improvements of late. Moreover, whats the approximate service interval for the 8L35 movement assuming I would want this to be a keeper.
lastly, am a great fan of the Isofrane and bracelets are just not my thing. So does a orange Isofrane get along the orange-less MM300? Anyone has any pictures of one with orange??
Thanks for reading.

Guys, if you like it, get it. The price is the lowest in my memory now. When I started looking at one a couple of years back, they were at least $3600 - $4000. So at $2.5 it is really value for what you are getting.
In any case, if you dont like it, it is always an easy flip from what I can see.
I think shaggy has a few pieces left. The forum bros are also very helpful and I even read earlier that some had offered to let hunters try their mm. You guys should search the threads again and contact these helpful bros.
Happy hunting.

Re: Been thinking of an MM300 lately
I not really study deiko watches...my own preference is on diver watch and must be 42mm and above size without crown as my wrist is thick. Just recently gotten a thick size seiko diver aka stargate (quite old model). Read up on mm300 and considering it.
Re: Been thinking of an MM300 lately
HK got many preowned shops.
Especially along nathan road.
Can I LongBANG you to get some models if you spotted them?

Re: Been thinking of an MM300 lately
My only concern in HK are fakes or replicas as they are better know. Though it must be said that there are no reports yet of mm300 replicas.
Good luck hunting.

Just to share this hk source, is it reliable I do not know but they have a shop for viewing and their prices are rather competitive. Facebook: search for clemiko timepiece.

imho... SMP wouldn't stand much chance beside the MM300, but the PO would...balzebub71 wrote:thought that after i get a tuna, the mm300 poison will be purged from my system...but now i still feel like getting one...how ah....?

Re: Been thinking of an MM300 lately
Yeah maybe PO closer to MM300 in terms of size and weight, while the SMP300 is more dressy as it's lighter and slimmer.SleepySimon wrote:imho... Movement wise though i actually feel the co-axial chronometer movements found in SMP and older POs have an edge over the 8L35 in the MM300? Not sure if anyone else will agree with me though; but the 2500D in my SMP300 is keeping really good time, better than the stated specs actually; not that i am OCD about accuracy haha. So i am guessing the newer PO with the latest co-axial movements will be even better. But then not a fair comparison anymore as their pricing will be way way out of the MM300 range.
