It won the category for watches less than 8,000 Swiss Francs.

Quite an interesting competition actually.

now watch the price rise!

The price probably won't rise, more like the discounts will drop !

And the limited edition ones will be harder to come by as a result...

I asked at Seiko Boutique in Vivo. Its a little over $10k for this particular one ( the only one they had at the store) , and that was before the win.

It won't affect the MSRP lah, but its gonna be tough to find good discount for it now that there's added demand.

If a Rolek is worth $10k and not win prize, surely Seiko will price it at $10k or more for its award winning watch. Lol.

The Dark Side of the Moon Speedmaster is the only other one I'll get. If I had the money of course. :)

My wife is definitely relief when I told her I don't how to appreciate rolex, patek, iwc. But this Grand sEiko GMT is an exception. Really like..

Read the review of this watch 3 months ago on Hodinkee, and keep looking at other reviews (Ariel Adam & co). There's not even one bad thing from this watch. Details, superb, as can be expected in GS line. Movement, innovative. Dials and detailing, super gorgeous. Like Emma Watson with her freckles on a 4K TV :D

Pertaining to the price hike, I don't think this is the case. A year ago, GPHG awarded Tudor Heritage Black Bay with the same category as Omega Dark Side of The Moon, and the price relatively stays the same. If indeed they want to raise the price to even slightly over 10K, they're entering a zone with existing big names. Don't we all agree that GS is underrated now? And accessibility is one of their key success.

Anyhoo, my favorite from GPHG 2014 is Breguet 10 Hz. But my wallet is in no favor of the price at all. At all! :D
