Can't really appreciate HOTWHEELS product... when i was in my early secondary education time, UK's CORGI at least much better in detail when compared to the mass produced HOTWHEELS......which is made so "rough" all the way until today!
At slightly a dollar or 2 depending where you get, German maker's SIKU miniature cars have better details than any others such as MAJORITE and HOTWHEELS as well as TOMY!

Very nice. Used to buy these toy cars when was younger. Remember they were around $2-3 back then. Wonder how much are they being sold for now

Hi, this particular model sells for $10.95 retail and offer some more. The usual price is $14++. Now mostly made in China or Vietnam. Those made in Japan are the expensive ones and hard to find.

Agree...Hotwheels used to be crap. I prefer Marchbox by Lesney Products...those "Superfast" models of the 70's. But now, it is Hotwheels (made in Malaysia) for me...they are more nice IMHO compared to Majorette, or Maisto. Tomica ok also but I choose particular model only as they are more expensive. Corgi I like but those vintage ones made in UK. Burago also made in Italy no more, mostly made in China. Matchbox quality now post Lesney era are crap...

While major brands are made in China, there are few that are shifting to Vietnam and Malaysia. Majorite, being a french company have their products now majority made in Vietnam, previously in Thailand, and mostly in 1/64 scale... HOTWHEELS, MATCHBOX, SIKU, TOMY majority still from China. After making toys all these years in China, i see no major improvements except dependent on individual brand's products. If you can find good old miniature cars made by SIKU in Germany, you'll see that the details still remains consistent and the price is affordable if compared to the past, where hobbyist will have to go all the way to the shop situated @ 2nd/3rd floor of Centerpoint to hunt for the SIKU brands products.
BURAGO, the Italian brand, don't have much miniature models sized like MatchBox, HotWheels, and Majorite, as well as SIKU and TOMY. And most of BURAGO products seems to be racing themed decorated. Very limited selections when come to "plain" makes. Details not as good as MINICHAMPS which may demand $4~6 more...
MINICHAMPS earlier identity was PAULS MODEL ART. When i was in my early 20s, PMA produce were German made and command very high price then. With a vehicle sized like BURAGO makes, usually starts from $30 and onwards. Now PMA renamed to MINICHAMPS, made in China, aesthetically, the German brand produce still have consistent details, but lesser in interiors... so the price takes a huge discount as well... but still worth looking if u're looking for "mid-sized(1/46 ala 2x of typical miniatures)" miniature cars for collections.
Where to hunt for MiniChamps?
Mustafa and OG... the latter have limited selection. Not available at TOYs R US and TAKASHIMAYA.
