Disappointed with SG-ROC

Post by ruzmidah » 26 Apr 2011 01:21

***RANT POST***

I am very disappointed with SG-ROC forums. Their rules and regulations are damn draconian and inflexible....

The farking mod warned abt infraction points for bumping my thread up within 24 hrs...
BUT i bumped my thread at 12am and again at 8pm (which is like 20 freaking hrs apart)
4 hrs apart is wrong meh?

Also, no linking to external ebay/ yahoo auctions ==> if its for commercial reasons then I understand lor BUT i wanted to just ensure the item i am selling is being reserved if someone wants to buy (ie, he has to buy it from my ebay acct) AND it was not an auction (ie fixed price)....

Link here: http://www.sg-roc.com/showthread.php?t=64193" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I believe SG-ROC is going to the "elitist" route, its no longer a place for watch lovers....
Damn tulan with them

End rant.... 8-)

Farking rude mod.... See his reply

"Forum rules are meant to be followed..if 24hrs can bump once means 24 hours bump once...simple rules if cannot follow in plain layman english then i cannot help much...

Whether you want to post anything for sales in the forum , it is your choice..if you cannot follow the rules of the forum then you get infraction points...simple logic...

Regards,
Feilong108 "

I bet he mistook the 12am as 12pm...now trying to cover up.....
Plus he (and the others in the forum) has double standards lor. I am sure alot of the kakis violate rules (esp this 24 hr rule, no one can follow this stupid rule to the letter) but yet they close one eye....

He too siao on already lah, I think he just got the moderator status not too long ago.

That's the problem with too many rules, some people just enforce blindly to fulfill their newly acquired responsibility and they just want to do a good job about it.

The community suffers, especially if you are not in their "inner circle of trust".

left a Feedback thread in their "Feedback" subforum....

Apparently the owner and admin has changed the whole moderator team.... The prev team was more flexible and "nicer". This current team is too much lah...

Anyway, i can foresee their forum becoming stagnant if they do not loosen their rules....

Would rather put my sales in SWX or here instead... :geek:

Hehehe.. as I suspected, he's just enforcing the rules, as a newly appointed moderator, he's not letting any possible violations going through under his nose, it will make him look bad.

Anyway, just let the matter rest loh, no point arguing with them. It's always easier for them to stand by the rules, there's nothing we can really do as the rules are there and it's meant to be followed.

I think being a mod can be a challenging task. If he cuts u some slack and bends the rule a little, he gets ticked off. In addition, how to draw a line between whats reasonable and how far to deviate from a rule? If he lets someone get away with 4hrs, what happens if the next person tries a 5hr stunt? 6hrs? I'm not siding anyone here, just that sometimes we need to look at things from a different perspective. Of course, there are times when some over zealous mod goes over board. In such an instance, u can try to PM the admin about it. Every forum has its own rules and regulations. If we dont like such rules/regulations, we can always look for a different forum to participate... like this one!

My excuse for this time is becos i came back home at 12AM on that day so i bump up my thread

The next day, i dont intend to bump at 12am so i bump at 8pm when i am more active and awake and subsequently plan to bump ard that timing lor.

In fact by enforcing these 24 hr rules to the letter means more work for them, which i find, is stupid lah since they are already so "burdened"

The other issue is consistency. The prev team of mods dont mind a few hrs off as long once a day bumping (20 hrs, 23 hrs, 23.5hrs, 19 hrs etc etc). I did that many times prev b4 this mod came on, no issues. In fact i find them quite fair (kena tick off once for some other issue)
Another time i kena was becos of posting 2 items in a thread. Prev, i saw a thread started by a regular (one of their kakis) there and the mod said is ok since he is selling as a set. I did a thread a few weeks later, selling as a set, prev team of mods are ok with it.
This time, this particular mod came hard on me again.... closed and locked my thread.

So i dunno what to say man.... If want to enforce, must make sure it is consistent all the way, also show no cronyism lah (its "subtly" obvious their regular kakis are treated more "fairly" than us)

Anyway, this is just a rant post... I have said enough to let off steam.... I think should lock this thread liao... =p
