For those who like Fantasy stuff, would recommend the Song of Fire and Ice Series by George R R Martin.

Not bad. The 1st book made into a mini series by HBO (Game of Thrones) and the second season (based on the 2nd book) on the way

Sci-fi only:
One of the best Sci-fi novels I've read:

Consider your mind blown.

Ray Bradbury's also up there for Sci-fi, Asimov of course, Orson Scott Card, William Gibson (Neuromancer is a must read), and P.K. Dick, short stories included. Timothy Zahn's another good writer, though a bit more skewed towards a youngish crowd.

I will go library to borrow this, looks fantastic.

I love OSC's Ender's Game also... bought 10+ copies from Kino to give to my staff as presents.
