yes, never heard of this movement before, any idea what's the origin?

China based?

This label and design caught my attention last nite when a forums member over @ the HK forum brought this up for discussion and opinion seeking.
The dial, hands design is certainly have some effort in it to bring out the fresh impression of an alternative look in contrast to traditional layout.
The movement will not be unfamiliar to some, especially those bros here who buys and dig into chinese movement watches like those from INGERSOLL, ARBUTUS or MARSHALL.

according to the specs here...

However last nite when i googled for the labels name, XERIC watches... not so welcoming comments hover around the brand...

Just found out this
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/th ... -redefined" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But seems like not gonna be success, not much backer/supporter for this, my opinion mainly because
1. the German inspired brand name - will make those peoples related it to something like "Hitler" and "the Nazi" because it is also a military watch
2. price at high side by using cheap Chinese manual movement

Any view ??

Was interested in the automatic mechanical version but the price was abit higher than i expect. The Steinhart Racetimer is about €50 more but comes with a Valjoux movement. Hmm. Guess i,ve been spoiled by Steinhart pricing. LOL!!

When it comes to movement debate, it is often very subjective...
Some feels that the ETA/Valjoux 775x movements is reliable becos it had been regarded as workhorse grade calibre for a long period of time, compare to SEIKO's NE88.
Some may consider SEIKO's NE88 is more reliable than that old SWISS calibre becos of modern day engineering that corrects flaws in accuracy as well as operation.

Actually, when we look from a wider angle, both positive views are correct as different folks have different exposure when it comes to their first timepiece with either movements that gave them the positive impressions.
Personally... for long term ownership, i will go for 775x movements. Parts are widely available, and watchmakers handling such movements are available, hence much more economial than NE88 which is currently regarded as much complex to handle, with challenging parts availability.

My main concern is this movement is very new. And from experience, movements may have "teething" problems when 1st released. And getting service maybe an issue. Anyway, i,m very tempted by the automatic white panda. But i prfer the layout of the mecaquartz panda. Ie i prefer the look of the registers ln left and right, instead of up and down. Hmm..
