Sorry for the OT :)
OT in Seagull thread. The reviews I read on Beijing is not bad but they don't seem to have international aspirations like seagull. Very reasonable pricing and classy designs. Never handled before so oso curious on their quality. I added some pics for comparision.

That's because the SWISS and Japs had built their foundations as the most reliable watches to seek for locally for decades.
When it comes to China made watches, general folks would first think of reliability and durability, rather than pricing.
Long before SEAGULL manage to stand still in local market, ARBUTUS had tried to make entry to local market ends up have to back off 2 times, with changing hands of distribution agent. Originality of watches design also plays an important part to display their identity. China watches are often regarded, might be unfairly, as copycats.

This is why quality makers like Beijing Watch and Shanghai Watch do not have a chance to build up their foundations here in SG lor...

On top of all these... the question remains, who'll come to service the Tiong watches if it breaks down. Who to look for?

Personally owned an Arbutus tonneau before. Frankly apart from the mineral crystal, the rest of the watch is well built. Have since passe it on to a friend who is still using it faithfully till today.

When the first agent gave up the distributorship, I managed to grab one for $100 from a watch shop. Dirt cheap. Wished there were more deals like this. :)

Yep, they have imitation Seagull and everything else in the Middle Kingdom.... I always wonder what I am (really) eating when over there.

Anyway, I see a lot of complains in their local watch forum on fakes when buying online (T.Bao shops)

Saw some Seagull tourbillon watches at their outlet at People's Park today. Ask about the price of the tourbillon out of curiously...$8000plus came the reply. Way out of my league manz, but the tourbillon sure looks great in person :-)
