Nice. Hmmm... Looks rather similar to tag. The steinhart Grand Prix comes to mind first actually.

Was steinhart doing a hommage of this piece, I wonder?

I would consider that the STEINHART GRAND PRIX looks more close to the CASIO EDFICE than the TUDOR... the tachymeter bezel looks alomost the same on all 3. Dial wise... TUDOR with KITKAT bars, hands more slimmer, cyclops on crystal?

Huh? So steinhart building an edifice homage or the other way around? Hahaha!

initially there were some comments that the STEINHART GRAN PRIX is a hommage to the CHOPARD MONACO

I think it really depends on who releases first. Cos it's after all just a genetic design. How different can they be? Not easy for them to differentiate from each other themselves. Steinhart also unfortunate in this sense cos they made a name for themselves mainly with hommages so it's kinda inevitable that people will start to look for a major brand that has a similar looking model and judge from there.

i owned the Tudor Heritage Chrono when it's first launched and sold it as part of my consolidation exercise.

It's a well made watch..weight is good, decent finishing and looks nice. Resale suffers - easily 50% from retail price.

cheer

My best guess is that majority of the 2nd hand buyers knows well that the movement inside those TUDORs are genetically ETA, even though TUDOR is a subbrand from ROLEX...
Hence, TUDOR will be on the same boat as Bell n Ross, FORTIS, SINN, LONGINES, BALL, RADO as well as other big ticket names. Ask yourself, if you know that a TUDOR chrono will be powered by a modified 7750, will you rather go for ORIS with a better specs as well as attractive price? I know i will not go for either...

I love to get a 7750 based or lemania 5100 chrono from those brands with rich heritage background...sinn,fortis,lemania,eterna,PD,omega,tudor.

Its better than (and many others) spending the same money on a unknown or least unknown brand in the market.. (exclude those micro brands that has made a name for themselves). unless the least known brand is very cheap ......real cheap..

least still know the brand, comfy with the standards on their watches though still valjoux but hey.....Valjoux chronos has been leading the path for easily 40yrs...so no issue.. and even big brands are buying ETA to rebrand as theirs. only a few true watch movement makers remains(in affordable category)

it got to be a full package, nice case and dial design, appropriate movement, better known brand ..

Value is really personal. Whether is the price one pays for it is worth it is really dependent on how much you like the watch. If a Camouflage canvas Prada wallet costs, what ? $50-$700? I may thinks its ridiculously overpriced but others who like the brand may thinks its a steal! And damn bloody worth it.

Like I always say, one man's petrus is another's mama lemon.

Although I didn't really like the red bezel at first, the more I see the Black Bay the more it appeals to me. Might get it if I can find one at a good price (2nd hand)
