Was just there minutes ago & received the same advice. :) I have a feeling that the watch will be a hit.

Very hard to say la... pricing will indefinitely affect the popularity as well.
At the moment, only 4 models announced and released. And those are sized... quite small @ 36mm approx. To most of us who're get used to moderate sized ones like 38mm or 40 and above... The SiSTEM51 models may not stay in our collection for long. And if the price is really going to be 100eu... I think i'll stay with the current Swatch Automatics with at least serviceable ETA2841 movement, with SS case somemore...

Me as well...+1 for Steel case!

Those with accuracy fetish... might drool on the claimed performance which SiSTEM51 may offer.

Fourth, the Sistem51 is incredibly accurate that Swatch says it will approach chronometer-certified accuracy.
:o

I read that the Swatch is on sale now only in Swiss for 150 CHF.

Can get from online for 195 USD shipped. Not exactly cheap for a plastic watch.

Interesting that this thread turned from Tissot Powermatic to Swatch. Also very interesting that some say the grand ancestor of the original Swatch was a Tissot plastic movement watch made in the 70s. The article conjectured that Tissot waa not given any credit as the group wanted to fully promote the Swatch. BTW another interesting point was that the plastic movement watch had ...wait for it.. 52 parts one more than Swatch.. coincidence??

Have a great weekend.

Anyway, after 24hrs plus, my sistem51 runs at +3s, worn during the day and left dial up in my watch box at night.

Thats not too bad. The regulation is said to be laser adjusted. Wear in good health!

It seems that Certina also uses this movement, saw one website selling it for 620 euro but it's sold out.

Because Certina has agent in KL but not in SG. I wonder are there any parallel imports here?
Certina watches certainly looks very nice.

Is powermatic 80 the branding of a range of Tissot watches or is that the name of the movement?

It's a name as a reference to the movement. Like SYSTEM51 to Swatch.

The new release seems attractive... but pricey as well... close to USD$ 1k.

also close to 600eu without VAT

TITANIUM with SS

priced close to 520eu

Looks like the Swatch Group - or at least Tissot - is going all out in pushing this modified movement -> New Tissot Seastar.
