Unboxing of Fossil "Tweed" Nato Strap

Post by telepgm » 05 Dec 2013 19:59

Good day folks, thought I might share this overpriced (whooping $39 for a Nato) , but nonetheless interesting purchase.

Let's start with some photos of the packaging:

I'm particularly impressed by the fact that all straps by fossil will come with additional spring bar, with the special "spring bar pin" for easy changeability.
Image
I think it's an exclusive fossil design, with the small insertion for the device...but hey, it's cool. You don't see such "innovation" in generic brands.

Strap itself:
It's really one of its kind. 22mm. Will fit most modern Seiko Divers (monsters excluded of course)

The top material, as the title suggest, Tweed. The underside, Leather.

Wonder how it'll look with a 007? I bet it'll instantly change the macho diver into chic & metro looking piece. Well, with a softer touch.

The leather, I'd suspect, will enhance and add comfort for the wearer; but it'll attract stench from perspiration from Singapore's unforgiving humid weather.

Tweed is traditionally used for apparels, especially for men's jacket, slacks, even for electric guitar hard cases & guitar amplifiers. The tweed look with transform any item into a classic, gentlemen & retro groove.

Conclusion:
If you wish for something different in this season of love, thanks & giving, give Fossil straps a chance. This fashionable brand may just be worth your while to add that retro twist to your strap collection.

Comments & opinions welcome. :) Merry Xmas folks.

I was at Ion fossil today. Saw that that they have quite a unique range of natos, leathers and rubber straps. Price starts at 39 - 69. Only 22 - 24mm size available.

Will be bringing my watches down for mix and match soon.

Unboxing of Fossil "Tweed" Nato Strap

Post by telepgm » 05 Dec 2013 23:47

After doing what I needed to do when I got home, I quickly re-unbox my Fossil strap put her to the test: on my SKX007J1.

Here's how my 007 looks like before on a generic Mr. Goh $10 rubber strap:
Image

Pretty standard & fool-proof huh? Won't fail with the good-old fashion black rubber.

Here's after:

Woah. I bought this tweed Nato with absolutely no expectations...but it sure brought out some retro character out of the 007.

More pics on the wrist: Image

The nature of the tweed material almost gave a "alligator skin on cotton cloth" vibe to the whole look of the strap.

While my photos doesn't do her justice, but on top of that, the multi-colour tone texture gave the tweed strap an indescribable pleasant complexity.

It's a joy to see my 007 transform into a retro, trippy, dressy time machine. Highly recommended. 4 stars out of 5.

Delicious review on the nato bro

Never knew Fossil sells natos and strap, pricewise, based on the material, i feel is justificable, definitely something interesting!

nice look strap, certainly of much higher quality then those generic nato/zulu u get from watch shops here. I live the tweed pattern too. Actually think the price is reasonable for the looks, quality, packaging and extra spring bars.

Thanks CEO. They have another "Scottish checkered" design which is equally interesting.

But the tweed prevailed. :)

Great review and many thanks for the heads up!
Have not thought to check fossil for straps. Their watches are not serious watches imo.

May i know where you purchase that strap? Or any other branches?

Thanks !

I got mine at the Somerset 313 branch. I'm a sucker for good service & I was served by a young lass with sweet smile...

So there you go, sweet strap sold by a sweet chic. Nice combo huh?

Thanks for remembering Badern. See you around in K2 again.

Thanks Roo! Rock out. Cheers with beers for another vote of confidence. Will experiment the tweed strap with other watches in the meantime.
