[Review] Dreyfuss & Co 1953 Sportive
Handled this interesting timepiece lately, a Dreyfuss & co 1953 Sportive Skeleton, a collaboration model with Wisma All Watches celebrating its 30th years of success in the watch retail industry. Limited to only 30 pieces worldwide.
I'm not really a fan of skeleton dial but this model does attracts me in some ways; the red accents from the hour markers & hands. Not only it provides aesthetic purpose but at the same time, it also makes time reading easier against the busy background.
Near 7:00 position is a printed 'All Watches' company logo.
Watch measures 45mm inclusive of crown, case is brushed finish with titanium plated bezel, as is the two-tone bracelet.
Interestingly, there's crown guard, a nice feature in my opinion.
And another interesting feature, is the red 'lining' around the crown if you noticed.
Yes, it's a red rubber lining. A nice detail I must say. Not only it creates a consistent colour flow as a whole but it also helps a lot when unscrewing out the crown, setting of time and screwing it back while having a nice grip on the crown. Kudos to Dreyfuss & Co on this detail.
Signed crown.
and some shots on the dial
and a closeup of the lume, in red but....it doesn't even glow at all.
Movement, as stated in All Watches, is a Dreyfuss & Co sole proprietary automatic callibre. I suspect is a ETA 2892 as 21 Jewels is on written the dial.
One thing I'm unsure of, is the 'Hand Made' part. Anyone can shed some light on it?
And a snap-on caseback rather than a screwdown caseback, hmmm..
Overall, it's a decent watch, good level of finishing although some areas can be improved. Since it's a skeleton watch, I'm a bit disappointed to see an undecorated movement except the rotor plate
Though the watch seems to have lots of weird solid angular areas, surprisingly, it wears well on wrist, the bracelet hugs the wrist nicely.
Thanks for taking the time to read this review

Re: [Review] Dreyfuss & Co 1953 Sportive
Nice looking watch, I quite like it. Kind of reminds me of a AP and Hublot in design? Hand made? Nah...probably just means some part of the watch was assembled by hand instead of 100% by robots? Any idea what the price range is like?

Hahaha. There ain't much info on Dreyfuss online. But what I was told was it is handmade. Probably assembled by hand. Agreed with ceo that the finishing could be better for some area. It has integrated lugs. so if you intend to change out to a strap, you probably can get it custom made or order one from Allwatches.

how much is a strap from All Watches?

Re: [Review] Dreyfuss & Co 1953 Sportive
I think around 160sgd plus another 40 or 50sgd for the deployant buckle. The deployant buckle comes in the Dreyfuss logo which I thought it is a nice touch unlike the conventional ones

Want to change to leather one. So far still looking around for a reasonable priced custom made one that can fit the integrated lug.

Re: [Review] Dreyfuss & Co 1953 Sportive
have you tried removing the pin from the lug?
Not sure if it's a springbar or it's the same 'pin & collar' like the bracelet link

Haven't remove yet. I think it is a pin collar type. Leather strap would be the one seen here

Wah I really like this watch. I think it will look very nice on a rubber strap too! Any idea what the rubber strap looks like?
Re: [Review] Dreyfuss & Co 1953 Sportive
nice write up CEO. Saw this at All Watches Bugis, it's heavy but wears comfortably.
But I like the bracelet, solidly made.
