25 hour watch
Found this watch deep in my drawer. Was among the first watches that I bought using my army pay (did not know any better).
Still do have some sentimental attachment to it and sent it to k2 for a change of battery and it still works
But the stainless steel is a little dull now. Thinking of polishing it. Bros any advice? Is brasso out of question :p?

Re: 25 hour watch
I think I try the tube metal polish. I am abit worried that the liquid brasso will enter the watch. Never really tested it under water before or splashed liquid on it.

I used autosol on one of my old seiko once. Shines it right up. Still looks good after many years.

Cape cod cloth is sold in pouches. Inside got more than one piece, u can further cut into smaller piece to use. But cape cod, autosol only works on polished surfaces, if your watch has got brushed surfaces then cannot

80 to 90 is reasonable if the end product finishing is good.
80- 90 by ur standards high, then how much is normal. I like to try those shops that can do prices that meet your price range n of cos expectations.
Pls sic/ share leh

Re: 25 hour watch
I think workmanship costs can vary tremendously. Personally, I feel it is charged at what you can bear type of thing. If the end product is good, then I think most people would pay especially if the watch to be restore costs many times more. If it is a very cheap piece with no other attached value like sentiments etc,
Then I think even a few bicks may be too much
That being said, I too wpuld like to know if there are shops that can do scratch removal etc especially for brushed surfaces. I will then go down to check and decide for myself if the value proposition is congruent with expectations.

Re: 25 hour watch
Honestly anybody with sandpaper and autosol can polish. I polish my vintage Russians before, SS case and acrylic crystals. It can be done easily to get it in a reasonable amount of shine..
Now if you want it back to the original state, brushed on top polished on the sides, get the professionals.
I don't know the quality of those small shops but if you say they are over polished, my guess is they just went trigger happy with the polishing.
