Seiko Sportura Chrono Queries

Post by acertey » 19 Jan 2012 08:44

Hi Guys,

I bought 1 of this Seiko Sportura many years back, Model 7T32-6N00.

This watch has went through 1 times of watch battery change and a major repair 1.5yrs back due to a heavy knock. Recently i change the battery for the 2nd time, before that watch was left alone for about 1.5 weeks to find out it is not moving.

After the battery change, the watch will move when i am wearing it. However after a 5-6 hours, it would stop moving. I tried to wear the watch as much as i can over the last couple of days, cos i believe that it might be due to the charging of the kinetics which is probably not fully charged. However over the last 3 days, the watch does not appear to be improving.

1st day wear few hours, watch stop about 5hrs later;
2nd day wear 15hrs, watch was functioning normally as in no stoppage;
3rd day wear for about 12hrs, again stop after like 5hrs;

Would there be a good place to fully charge it for a small fee, or do some basic quick assessment as to the problems?

Sounds like the capacitor inside needs to be replaced.
I believe the older kinetics hv this issue with the capacitors.

Edit: wait... U said battery change and also mentioned kinetic??
Is the watch kinetic or battery?
iirc kinetics don't use battery.

well then probably it is not kinetics.

Can't remember it very well, this morning the performance was a lot worse.

The watch would stop erratically, moving for a while then stop, moving a while then stop.

Hi Bro,

This is the exact same watch.

Would it be expensive to change/ replace the capacitor at K2? Any ideas on the shop opening time?

7t is a quartz movement.

It may seems that the watch is faulty.

Try bringing it to k2

Go after 145pm ;)

that's bad, they open pretty late. This morning is worse, watch moves for a min then stops totally, despite me resetting it.

Something really appears wrong. Quartz movement spoilt? It was ok before the battery change.

I suspect the move might be faulty

7t32 usually encounters this issues.

It happened to my fren watch as well.

If k2 doesn't want to service it, u can get a cheap 7t32 chrono off the bay n swap the move into ur sportura ;)

actually 1.5yrs back i had the same problem. The watch was fixed by this Chinatown shop which i think a lot of brothers know about.

However, i hope the cost is cheap, becos it does not make sense to repair for every year. Usually such watches should be able to last pretty long.

I aiming Seiko Sinn, The Vintage look FFF dial and watch, and also probably the Seiko Submariner.

Right now i think i need more justification in buying a new 1 rather then repairing.

Sorry to hear that.
Like what bro lunar in said, it does sound like the 7t movement is up lorry.

Bring to K2 to see what can be done.
At the same time u can what mechanical watch u can get as replacement. :D

I just hope during the last repair, the correct battery was used.

All the best bro.
Do keep us updated. It would be good information for the future.

Yes Bro you are right. I am a little more inclined towards the Sinn and Submariner due to budget and also the looks.

Dats great to hear. :mrgreen:

400 mark, you have a fair bit of options to play with, seiko sinn, skx031, skx171 etc.

Or get a classic vintage diver, 6309-7040 :twisted:

A must have for seiko diver lovers 8-)

Durability??

That's the last thing I will worry bro :lol:

These vintage divers are at least 30+yr old and is running strong nw, w/o major servicing.

Get a good condition one frm k2, you can skip the worrying part :mrgreen:

Once a while, it pops out on our Buy/Sell Section too :D
