Travelling to Singapore and need advice on where to buy
Travelling to Singapore and need advice on where to buy
Hello,
Im travelling to Singapore in Feb and want to buy a Seiko Astron. I have seen a lot of info on the internet advising to stear clear of Superchrono. Is there store at Sim Lim Square any better to deal with than their online service? The price they are offering sounds too good to be true. Are they crooks or can they be trusted.
I would really appreciate any advice - is there somewhere I can get the Astron at a reasonable price and end up with a genuine Seiko article without paying the full RRP from Seiko.
Regards, Billy

High end models can be found @ the SEIKO Boutique, VIVO City.
Travel by subway train, alight @ HarbourFront station.

No offence, but asking if someone is a crook seems very extreme to me, , although I do not know what you have read about them to ask such a question.Billy3141 wrote:Hello,

I had never bought anything from them b4 , though had been in their shop a handful of times. priced higher, but they have variety n stuff many other shops dun have.
Its personal preference that some prefer to pay more to buy something they can feel in flesh. While some prefer to buy online at a lower price without looking at actual product or the arrived item might be a lemon.
For a watch like Astron , I would think the Seiko boutique at vivo or jems are your only choices.
They wun charge you full rrp, but how much discount, I dunno.

You can also try the shop in Ion Orchard next to Fossil. Sorry not sure of shop name but I think they are also part of local AD network so no worries on the pieces being rwal. Prices are there or there abouts with Seiko Boutique.

Thank you to those of you who replied. I have noted the locations you suggested and I'm looking forward to getting to Singapore to buy my new watch. Regards, Billy

Sadly, Sim Lim Square is famous for the bad reputation of being tourist trap.... Probably more on DSLR and other electronics commonly found at the first level.phantom150 wrote: No offence, but asking if someone is a crook seems very extreme to me, , although I do not know what you have read about them to ask such a question.
Do your research before buying, we do list a few watch shops which have a better reputation but do your price research before buying, don't fall into the traps when they offer you a different model which a "huge" discount that you didn't research on.

What is the requirement for GST payments in Singapore? I have been in contact with a watch store in Singapore that says that I don't have to pay GST and therefore I can't collect a refund when leaving the country. Is this correct and proper?

Honestly, I'm not sure about the tax refund process here but here's a good write up on it: http://www.yoursingapore.com/content/tr ... efund.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You get your 7% GST refund only if you leave Singapore thru Changi Airport.
Re: Travelling to Singapore and need advice on where to buy
Smaller shops with sales of less than a certain amount don't need to pay GST, thus u won't be able to get any GST refund ....Billy3141 wrote:What is the requirement for GST payments in Singapore?
