Ever wanted a watch so badly yet.....
Ever wanted a watch so badly yet.....
Ok,......I confess, got this idea as a topic from another forum, but wanted to hear from great people of this forum on this, and help generate some traffic....
Some of us could have been eyeing, dreaming about owning a particular watch, a forum favorite, or something that most watch "collectors" would have in their collection. I am talking about something that is within your means, and not having to cut an arm or a leg to own it (or what some terms as their Grail). And yet, despite having the urge, the thought of owning it, and like me, putting aside some money for it, something else pops up and there go your watch budget to own that so called "desired" piece. Anyone has that experience? I do....
The Omega Moonwatch has been on my mind for a few years. And every time I see photos of it, or on someone's wrist, I will tell myself that it will be my next purchase. Yet, over these years, I haven't been able to pull the trigger on it. I have been "distracted" so many times over.....maybe, it's not really what u want? Who knows.....perhaps I should drop by my favorite AD again and take a (God knows how many times already) good look at it.
Second on my list is the MM300. There are so many great pictures and great reviews about this watch, and I really like its look. I was in Bangkok earlier this year and found one that was at a good price (new from a AD), though the only catch was that it's hands were modified (Thailand LE).
I was really tempted, but in the end, got the Sumo LE instead. Again, one day, I might pull the trigger on this.
What about you?

I always wanted a Milgauss, but everytime I got some cash, instead of saving it, I end up buying another Seiko or Orient, this time round it's a Tisell 157. Still hoping one day I can buy a milgauss.

Re: Ever wanted a watch so badly yet.....
Honestly I have no idea what i really want? Too fickle minded ...so hard to focus on getting one particular piece. Like right now I am sorely tempeted to flip all my non jap watches and hoot only Japanese brands..

Re: Ever wanted a watch so badly yet.....
tbh, I wanted so many watches but wallet too shallow..
Speedy was one of such watches, aimed for it for several years, finally gotten one at a good price.
After 2-3 months of ownership (worn less than 20x), I sold it (it's in good hands now). The excitement had died, I realised
The more you aimed for certain watch, the less 'feel' you have after getting it (for me )
Do not have any particular models which I am really aiming for now, just let nature take its course

Money will always never be enough.....
But is there a watch that you wanted for a long time, that is within your means (though may take sometime to put aside some funds) but yet got put aside because of other distractions?
After a few years into this hobby.l, I am beginning to realize this..........
I am weak, and lacking self control!!!!!

Re: Ever wanted a watch so badly yet.....
I'm facing a major distraction now..
2 weeks ago my CO approved $5K budget. That's because I bought her a Constellation in 2013. I've been aiming at SBDX014 ($3.2K-ish) / 011 or MM300 ($2.1K-ish). At first I thought I still can get both with a little top-up. I didn't pull the trigger on the 014 although I've tried on one at Seiko Vivo City because I still cannot convince myself "rose gold" on a diver, whether I will get tired of it one day.
Last week, my first distraction when I bought a pre-owned Casio GPW1000FC-1A9 which is black & gold for $720. This morning as I was just browsing, I'm again distracted by a pre-owned Sevenfriday P2-2 which is also black & gold at about $8xx. I still can fit a brand new 014 close to the $5K budget. At the end, I might be having 3 pieces of black & gold watches.
Moral of the story: Strive towards your goal! Don't be distracted.
Here's my GPW
Any bros here have any thoughts on the Sevenfriday watches? Is it worth getting? Will be my first "square" watch.
